Planning and Zoning – Sue Spang

Sue was appointed to the Board of Education in December 2017. She serves on the personnel, budget and policy subcommittees. Sue was on the negotiating team for certified teacher contracts. The negotiations resulted in a contract which was under the state average for wage increases and for the first time in years did not have to go to mediation.  She is committed to doing what is right for the children of Salem while being mindful of the tax burden of a small town. “The Board of Education has a large learning curve and I am looking forward to continuing on that curve and doing what is right for Salem’s children in these difficult fiscal times.”

Sue is a 31 year resident of Salem and previously served as the Recreation Commission chairman for 15 years. She has also been a member of the Plan of Conservation and Development Committee, the Open Space Committee, Emergency Management and was chairman of the Harris Brook Multipurpose Path Committee.
